Who are you

Stasi prison April 14, 1985

10pm.

Officer Schubert has a process.
He is correct, slow with that type writer.
We start with a summary of why I’m here.

Copy from my Stasi file that I reviewed in 1990.

The 3-pager seems of special interest but he will keep it for later.
There is a binder that he keeps reading in, I recon it’s my Stasi file.

It’s a painstaking step-by-step Q&A.
Every minute from last night.
And about the 3-pager.
"Who has a copy?"
Silence.

2 hours in to the session I’m offered food and reject.
I take the water.
Gladly.

I ask about my parents
“They’ll know in the morning.”
“Know what?”
“That you are with US.”

It's dragging on.
It is a long day.
Too long.
