Southside 2010

Massive Festival

Can't wait for Southside 2010. I will update the lineup and some background info here. Hoping for some major acts and lesser known as I liked the Silversun Pickup's best last year.

Southside will add details as they emerge so I am checking their web site regularly. 50-60'000 folks expected as in every year and a grand collection of top line acts as always. Tickets are for sale in early 2010 for €99.

The event is on June 18-20, 2010.

"First time visitor's guide"

You have heard of the Southside Festival feeling and want to be part of the community?

This guide will help you make the most of the festival experience – and help to avoid possible mistakes. If you are experienced or not, ther is some useful information on the official website.

Welcome!

As soon as you arrive at the festival site you will have to exchange your ticket for the festival wristband. You will need it to get to the camping and festival site. If you travel in a group ask your friends to look after you luggage while you fetch the wristband. At the counter you also get an information booklet. It includes some essential information and a map. And you will get the waste bag and the chip. With the delivery of the filled garbage bags and the chip festival you will receive your 5 euro deposit.

The camping ground

At the entrance of the camping site the stewards are ordered to search your luggage. Please keep in mind that for safety reasons glass bottles aren't allowed. Broken glass has caused many injuries on the camping ground and life is easier since only cans and plastic are accepted. Then it is time to look for a nice place where you can pitch your tent.

When your tent is raised and you enjoy your first can of beer you are already part of the festival life. Take care to relocate your camping ground, try to fix a significant point near your tent and use the emergency routes so that you will find home easily. Especially in the night it is quite difficult to find your tent at once.

Head for the band!

You should enter the festival site in time if you like to hear a certain band. At both entrances you will be searched again for glass bottles, plastic bottles, cans and weapons and you must show your wristband. Now, let’s go!..."

Mayan Prophecy

The Mayans had a very precise understanding of our solar system's cycles and believed that these cycles coincided with our spiritual and collective consciousness. The most significant of which has much to do with the December 12, 2012 prophecies.

As many historians have pointed out and others have wrongfully labeled the end of all time or crafted some apocalyptic phantasy about, Mayan scholars and scientists of ancient times put this event as a time of transition from one World Age into another.

Described in very detail by the Knowledge of Reality Magazine and used in the upcoming epic apocalyptic thriller 2012 by Roland Emmerich revolving around this Mayan prophecy, Mayans prophesied that from 1999 we have 13 years to realize the changes in our conscious attitude to stray from the path of self-destruction and instead move onto a path that opens our consciousness to integrate us with all that exists.

According to the Mayans we are living today in the cusp of the Mayan end times, the end of a galactic day or time period spanning thousands of years. One galactic day of 25,625 years is divided into five cycles of 5,125 years.

The Great Cycle of the Mayan Long Count calendar ends on the winter solstice of 2012 A.D. Following Mayan concepts of cyclic time and World Age transitions, this is as much about beginnings as endings. In fact, it was considered by the ancient Mayans to signify the creation of a new World Age. We are almost at the end of the fifth and final 5,125 year cycle!

I was fascinated by this story I found at a decidated website on the topic and can't wait to experience the world in some state of reflection around that time and hopefully some level of consciousness that we will have to keep a watchful eye on our resourcefulness and sustainability.
